Finding History

During our travels today we stumbled upon the Rockingham Meeting House (circa 1800). This beautiful two story (mezzanine) hall was set up in family pew, block style, seating. The blown glass windows spanned both levels and allowed for gorgeous streams of sunshine. This pulpit area was impressive to say the least. It had its own small set of steps and allowed the speaker to see and speak to both seating levels. I’m always excited to visit other Meeting Houses and to have this one open and accessible for tours was the best!

We managed to find the covered bridge featured on Funny Farm along with so many others. This area of southern Vermont is simplistically beautiful. No chain restaurants or shopping. Barely a street light. Locally run country stores, older style gas pumps, health clinics instead of doctors offices, kids riding bikes and playing at the park, vegetable stands and maple syrup…. It’s America 1980’s style.
