Dahlia
Kitty was ready for breakfast at 5:30. Hubby got up at 6:00 to feed her. This was a day for unexpected grandchildren visits. Hubby agreed to take Chase to orientation so his dad dropped him off here at 6:20. I got up then. Parker called to see if I had a Magic Eraser he needed to clean his boat. Gram has everything so he drove over on the golf cart with Raven to pick it up. Lauren asked if River could visit a couple hours. Brooklyn, Mancil and his girlfriend stopped by next. They left Brooklyn here to play with River while they swam in Jamie’s pool. Lauren and Isla came back to eat lunch and visit, bearing gifts for us (never used pruning shears and a new jigsaw puzzle she found at the thrift shop). Skylar was going to stop by but hubby has to pick up the last three items for her medical kit so she will visit tomorrow. This being the last day before we go camping, I had big cooking and shopping plans today. My grandchildren are so much more important. We felt tons of love in this home today. I was able to do three loads of laundry while they were here. Hubby completely finished his to do list of odd jobs. Now that it’s quiet again, I just made the pineapple cheesecake we’ll enjoy for dessert next week. Still have to make a meatloaf, cook bacon and prepare/bake breakfast zucchini bread. We will have corn on the cob with dinner and enjoy fresh peaches for dessert. Hubby will choose a main course when he shops for the trip in a few. Oh, the joys of summer. My knees demanded a break so it became blip time. I scouted for one between Chase and Parker’s arrival. Just love the color of this dahlia. Hope you do as well. Stay safe. Thanks so much for stopping by. “August is ripening grain in the fields blowing hot and sunny, the scent of tree-ripened peaches, of hot buttered sweet corn on the cob. Vivid dahlias fling huge tousled blossoms through gardens and joe-pye-weed dusts the meadow purple.” - Jean Hersey
