Falls at Grotto Bridge, River Almond

The weather forecast for this morning was better than it was for this afternoon, so not long after breakfast Mr hazelh and I jumped on our bikes for a ride west. We cycled as far as Cramond Bridge, then followed the River Almond upstream as a far as is possible by bike.

I took the photo in my blip from Grotto Bridge. It looks very peaceful here, but this location is very close to Edinburgh airport. The falls are directly beneath the flight path to the runway, so this is quite a noisy place whenever a plane comes in to land.

We had hoped to stop on Cramond esplanade for coffee/tea and buns on the way home, but the café was closed. Instead we defrosted a couple of scones from the freezer back at the house, and Mr hazelh kindly shared half a Boost bar with me.

This afternoon we started planning a trip so that Mr hazelh can celebrate his 60th birthday at his favourite place on the planet. I also read, and commented upon, more of Marina's draft PhD work. Hopefully both these two jobs will be complete in the next couple of days.

Exercise today: 17 mile bike ride.
