A peek into Rolvenden yard

A busy old day at Wittersham Road today. The first Sunday I’ve worked at the signalbox this year when the lunchtime Pullman has been running.

The timetable had changed meaning different moves which took a while to work out, then the Pullman empty coaching stock was late and the up train early and a slight signal failure combined to create a 15 minute delay in the middle of the day. In the end it all worked out and we finished on time.

Today’s service was supplemented by a vintage bus rally where many old buses gathered at Tenterden setting off on journeys around the countryside. Route 14 ran from Tenterden to Wittersham to link up with trains. Some people came by train and went back to Tenterden by bus, others did the opposite. All the buses had plenty of passengers and there were plenty of passengers on the trains too.
