Diary of an Edinburgher

Cycling!

JR off to the gym, and after yesterday's very slack day, I decided to get up and do stuff - ironing mainly, and even a bit of tidying up. Then I started watching the UCI Cycling Championships, which have been held in Scotland (mainly Glasgow) for a couple of weeks. I've missed all that, being away on the cruise, and what a spectacular event it has been. Events I've never seen before, including 'Artistic Cycling' where individuals, or pairs or fours, do amazing things balanced on their bikes, while cycling round a marked area. There was also 'Cycle Ball', where two teams of two played, yes, soccer. They could only use their wheels (front or back) to pass the ball and their skills were incredible! But the most amazing one - and I don't know what it was called - was an obstacle course, with Very Big obstacles, boulders, trees, huge old cable reels etc and the person had to jump up to each one, balance, then jump to the next one - while on the bike!!

Apart from those fun events, there were crazeee madcap BMX races, and the cycle road race round a splendid looking Glasgow. Well done to the organisers!

JR and Chrissie walked across to George Square for a wee nosey, but I declined, seeing that it was going to rain at any minute. Besides, I was engrossed in the cycling. Archie went out with Elizabeth and got a bit wet.

JR LOVES her new phone. She took this photo today at George Square. I don’t know why the camera info isn’t showing this time…
