Lady Piper
Another sunny day in town :-)
One of the first things many visitors to Edinburgh notice is the sound of bagpipes, especially if they arrive by train or get the bus from the airport, this is because there is often a piper on the corner of Waverley Bridge & Princes Street. There is also very often a piper playing at The Mound (a third piper can also often be found at the top of the High Street on the Royal Mile). I'm not sure how they are organized but they do seem to work in shifts, quite often I've seen one arrive to take the place of the current player.
On a busy day, it can be difficult to find somewhere to sit in East Princes Street Gardens so I quite often will sit at The Mound (there's an small odd concrete three teir "step pyramid" thingy suitable for sitting on), occasionally there won't be a piper playing but another busker, sometimes even a band (I've seen the "Spinning Blowfish" there quite a few times, which consist of a drummer, guitarist and a piper, they're pretty good putting a modern twist on some traditional Scottish tunes).
Anyway, it was nice to see a young lady playing the pipes at The Mound for a change (the pipers are usually male).
