The London Eye
I travelled down from Ilkley to London in the morning to meet up with brother Darren and family who have flown in from Boston for a two week holiday. My train was, as usual, cancelled but it was at least only a thirty minute wait for the next, which was packed. There's no penalty for the operator to do this, so they can save money by running one train instead of two. Our railway system is a shambles.
Anyway, grumble over, we met on the South Bank and walked along the river for a while before crossing over to get the tube to the Tower of London. I'd never been. I had no idea there was so much to see. After a couple of hours, though, we were towered out and took a bus to Trafalgar Square, where it was disappointing to find the fountains fenced off. It was then a walk down to the river to see Big Ben (looking resplendent after its makeover) and onto the London Eye, another first for me. That was awesome. Even the queueing proved to be fun.
The boys said it was their best day ever. That was quite a result.
