We seem to have moved from Spring into Summer. Heat and blue skies - how much better we all for it. The people in the restaurants and bars of Edinburgh spilled out on to the pavements.

This is a wooden sculpture of navies who would have dug the Union Canal. What gruelling work that must have been.
