From Lac du Der to Bar le Duc
There is a canal from the lake to St. Dizier. You can cycle on a 18 kilometres cycle lane next to it. The canal lays high which makes it a nice cycleride, for you'll have a nice view on the surroundings.
After St. Dizier we went into the hills. From thereof there are three serieus long climbs before you reach the river la Meuse. The first one was to Bar le Duc.
During an espresso break we discussed where we could camp. We found out on the map that it would be at least the same distance as we had already covered. With two more serious climbs that would be too much for us.
So, very early we set up our tent at the campsite in the city. It had an advantage however, we were able to make a nice walk through the beautiful rainessance town on the steep hill. We wouldn't have done that otherwise.
