Getting Our Sea Legs
Today was our first full day in Portland, and after a lazy start in our our studio cottage, we ventured forth into the rapidly warming day and headed for one of our "must" stops -- Cascade Brewing Barrel House.
We decided to walk along E. Burnside Street, enabling us to take just one, rather than two buses to our destination, as we felt decidedly under-exercised after yesterday's six-hour train journey. On the way, we discovered a place we've added to our "must" list -- Pix Patisserie, open 2pm-2am daily, offering gorgeous French pastries and accompanying drinks, and also housing a Spanish tapas bar. (I can't manage adding links yet on my iPad, but those interested -- Veronica? -- should "Google" Pix Patisserie.)
We had tasters of seven of Cascade's interesting beers; I particularly enjoyed their Apricot Sour, which was richly aromatic and full of apricot flavor. Phil and I shared several food items over the course of our slow food and beer repast, and then walked longer than we should have in the heat of the afternoon to our bus stop.
We've had a rest and it's now 6:30pm, so we have to decide if we're venturing forth again today, or will simply enjoy some cheese, bread, fruit, and wine on the private little patio that comes with our studio cottage.
