Jordan's Flour Mill
We went out for lunch and Jordan's Flour Mill was next door, you may have had some of Jordan's products?
The 30 minute tour took 45 which was fine, it is not longer a working mill as it no longer complies to the food standards now required but was still operational till 2000.
The mill is water powered but not by a water wheel as after the second fire Jordan decided to modernise, in the early 1900's, they fitted a water turbine which is still in use today but the crown gear that can be seen is used to generate power not for driving the mill. All the wheels and pulleys that can be seen were turning and are now driven by electric motor power by the generator. In the rebuild the stone mill wheels were removed and roller put in their place which can be seen in the Extra.

A few showers today but warm with it with no sign of the threatened thunder.
