Surfers Esplanade

We’re in Surfers Paradise for a few days, visiting my mother and catching up with family. But not until tomorrow. This evening it was a walk along the esplanade and across the bridge to Chevron Island, a bit raffish but nowhere near as touristy.

The photo shows Miss USA being sprayed with suntan oil by Oscar Safier in 1958. Alexander McRobbie photographer.

Slightly disconcerting to see images from my childhood presented as history.
