Once upon a time…….

….. in a land far, far away …..

Today’s our 45th anniversary - sapphire, apparently, and my flowers have delphiniums and agapanthus to mark the occasion. Of course, our celebrations this year are inevitably low-key, but it’s a time to look back over our time together - actually 51 years. You will all know just how lucky I am to have such a wonderful husband who does so much to support me. It’s always a time for gratitude to look back over our years together and the things  we’ve shared.

A few weeks back, we had plans for us to go away somewhere like The Lakes for our anniversary weekend. Then, our ideas became less ambitious, so it was a case of looking at local restaurants. Then, reality dawned and we realised we’d need to celebrate at home. Wanting something special, I discovered a company called ‘Dishpatch’ who send out ‘ready to cook’ gourmet meals from a range of well known chefs.

So this morning, our anniversary meal-in-a-box arrives, and tonight, G prepares it from the step-by-step instructions (basically opening numbered containers and heating up the contents.) Our Middle Eastern feast by Sabrina Ghayour is absolutely delicious - and we have non-alcoholic Prosecco to toast the occasion. I take photos - though I must admit I don’t really do it justice.

So it’s a quiet, homely celebration when we look back on all the wonderful times we’ve shared - like this one five years ago, dining on the flooded salt flats of Uyuni in Bolivia - and dream of times like this to come…..

Meal and flowers in extras!
