Trapped squirrel

We've had a lot of fun today photographing and filming one of the squirrels in our garden as he tried to escape from our 'squirrel-proof' feeder. This is not an easy feat for him. In fact, I think that we could probably trap him using the feeder as a cage, should we ever wish to do so. Mr hazelh added a clip of the Mission impossible theme tune to to 9 seconds of the video footage so that we could share it with our family. It's very amusing.

We gardened in the fine weather this morning. Then this afternoon we braved the showers for a trip out to drop off an item at the Bethany Shop, buy groceries, and enjoy coffee/tea at Not Just Coffee on Leith Walk.

Jon came for supper and Catan this evening. The food was a great success: long peppers stuffed with artichokes, feta, pine nuts, and parsley followed by profiteroles. I won the first game of Catan, and Jon the second. The conversation at the table was as fascinating as ever, ranging from the etiquette of thank you letters to Rawls's theory of 'justice as fairness'.

Last night I noticed strange purple bruises across the joints of my right index finger. The bruising has extended considerably over the past 24 hours: see the extra. I think that it's paroxysmal hand hematoma Achenbach syndrome. This is a rare, but benign, condition, and should resolve itself in a few days.

Exercise today: gardening/walking (10,912 steps).
