Whitefish Wednesday
There is a tradition up here in the spring since the 70's, called whitefish Wednesday. A mysterious, secret tradition. All the faculty and staff taking a break from students at dinner for a picnic on the lake. Smoked whitefish, local sauteed mushrooms, breads and cheeses, drinks all around. A feast! Last year Bob and his family hosted and it was wonderful, complete with fiddle and banjo music drifting out on the lake. This year they aren't around and so Katie and I stepped up as the hosts. Making original art flyers to drop off in mailboxes, running out for the goods, and eluding our ever curious students to keep the tradition alive.
Mint mojitos and dumpster dived brie with crackers. Smoked fish and cheese. Beer, wine, whiskey and good people all around. A perfect spread. Its important to cultivate community around us, you know? And, I love the community of people up here.
Katie and I finished our last analysis today too, meaning we don't have to stay up all night guiding students through stats analysis and student presentations. Halleleujahhhha! Horrray whitefish Wednesday!
