Qualifies

I went to collect some new glasses this morning, then did a few jobs at home. As the weather was pleasant, I thought I’d drive up to one of my local butterfly sites - just a roadside verge, but it often seems  to have a good population at this time of year, on nettles creeping thistles and bilberry. My timing was good, as it looked as if a large brood of Small Tortoiseshells had just emerged. There was also Gatekeepers, Meadow Browns and Ringlets so I finally got a good entry in this year’s Big Butterfly Count.
