Not a day out!
Yesterday Ann told me that we would spend the whole day together and go off on a little adventure. Her plan was to get the bus to Peebles, take me for a lovely long walk along the river and then find a nice dog friendly cafe/pub for lunch. Best laid plans and all that......................
When I went out on my morning walk it was raining so we both got very wet. Ann said, 'Trixie, there's not much point in us going out for the day when the weather is this bad. You can have snooze time and I'll go and do a Pilates class.'
The Pilates classes at the local centre are usually booked, with long waiting lists, so when Ann looked on her app how techy is she? she was really surprised to find a class starting in half an hour with two free places, so she immediately booked onto it. OMG! It was one of the worst classes that she has ever done in her life. Obviously all teachers have their own style, but the trouble with 'Edinburgh Leisure' is...................... they don't tell you who the teacher is on the timetables. Not that knowing what the teacher was called would have made any difference to Ann at this stage because she's only been doing 'Summer Fitness 2023' for a week. However it does explain why there were spaces available on this particular class and not on any of the others. Atm Ann is trying out loads of classes and she'd happily do Fitstep, Konga & Body Balance again, if she got the same teacher. She's also done two Zumba classes (neither of which were as good as the one she went to in St Ives). The first teacher was OK (though other club members seem to think that the best teacher is someone called Helen, but apparently her classes are usually all booked up) and the second teacher wasn't someone that Ann would go back to. Having said that; £69 for six weeks of swimming/fitness classes/gym use is brilliant! Ann originally just signed up thinking that she would swim twice at week (a PAYG swim is £6.30), but actually in the last week, she's also done 7 different fitness classes.
Moving swiftly on...................... when Ann got back from Pilates she made herself a big bacon & egg roll and she didn't share the rain had stopped so we went off for an afternoon adventure. The very popular no. 41 bus, that went to Cramond, has disappeared and in it's place is a no. 9 bus that goes a completely different route and ends up at Muirhouse. Mmmmmm............... a lot of Ann's friends, who live on the 41 bus route, tried signing petitions to keep it. It would seem that they weren't successful. Not quite sure what 'Lothian Region Buses' are planning but there was hardly anyone on this bus and for the last 3 miles or so we were the only ones..................... Got off at its terminus at Muirhouse and walked down Marine Drive to Silverknowles. From there we walked along the prom to Granton, where I had a play in Forthquarter Park before jumping on a no. 38 bus and coming home.
I've had a lovely afternoon, but it has made me hungry so I asked for my dinner at 5pm. And as a bonus the sun has come out. Yay! It might even be warm enough for my human to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine......................
