Picnic breakfast

The day started well with the Inver breakfast picnic in our room.  This year’s innovation was a marmelade danish pastry which was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten.  My 16:8 diet continues very badly but tomorrow is a fresh start.  The night had been hot in the bothy and neither of us slept very well so breakfast was a solace

We hit the road around 11 and went South via the Dunoon-Gourock ferry.   On the road from Inver we saw a pair of red squirrels scampering across our path.  One forgets how much smaller they are than grey. We didn’t need much lunch but stopped for a break in Appleby and found ourselves in a pub eating well made sandwiches around 3pm.

We broke for the night in Malton, in the beautiful Talbot in with stunning views from our room which was full on dog friendly.  Relaxed dinner and watched another of Sarah P’s The Sixth Commandment which though incredibly sad was beautifully made.
