Butterfly thoughts...

A good description for today's wandering mind.
But. Literally. Thoughts about butterflies.

I could (obviously I'd never) squish a Red Admiral just as easily as any other butterfly, I must represent a potential natural danger. They're not especially quick, and they're certainly delicate, yet they are also, in our garden at least, seemingly unbothered by us or indeed Missy.
This one repeatedly came and sat on parts of the woodstore I'm building whilst I was working on it, later it sat on the rabbit fence around the raised bed whilst I was harvesting potatoes, and it even briefly landed on me when I stopped for a brew.
Other flutterbys in the garden don't behave this way; the Speckled Wood never settles, the Tortoiseshell are seldom slow, but over the years the Red Admirals always do.
Curious.
