Life as a Performance @GSofA

To Glasgow School of Art (GSA) for my third degree show in three weeks.
Miracles happen in the Glasgow art world... Alan Yentob made an Imagine documentary on this very subject last year. So it must be true.
No pressure on the Turner Prize winners in waiting at GSA then?
I'll be writing a preview of the show for Saturday's Herald. Still mulling it over in my mind's eye.
This picture shows painting and printmaking student Frances Davis perform live.
It wasn't set up for me. There were external examiners in the college today and one of the lecturers rushed up to me and head of painting and printmaking, Jim Birrell, who was showing me round, to say we should try and catch Frances before she headed off as her performance was wonderful. Her voice was beautiful, he told us.
So we headed to her eyrie like spot in the Mackintosh Building, which has a large window overlooking the emerging new build part of GSA across the street.
It was quite special. Her show, based around 'The Ballad of Glencoe Street' is very thoughtful with a fine aesthetic.
Degree Shows can be overwhelming for viewers and students alike but in among it all are some rare gems.
See Frances perform here
