A great day out
Ruth and I have had such a nice day. We went to Craster and walked to Dunstanburgh then on towards Newton by the sea but we’d only been able to find enough cash for 2 hours in the car park so didn’t get the 7.5 miles round trip done.
It was warm and sunny and people were swimming at Newton by the sea when we drove there to go to the Ship for a late sandwich. 5.5 miles today. Mr C stayed at home as he had things to do. Unfortunately the van is still not ready to be picked up so I shudder to think what it’s going to cost.
Tonight we had cold courgette and pea soup, then Mr C’s potatoes, various salads and spinach and egg pie followed by summer pudding. M and K came up from town to join us. They were not on their usual form - they hadn’t met Ruth before so didn’t feel free to say till on the doorstep that M’s daughter is not in a good way. She’s not coping with the horrendous behavioural issues with her damaged adopted children. It’s so sad and there’s no solution - they are devoting the school holidays to helping out. I don’t know how people cope with such hard situations. It’s not what you need at aged 80.
