Whimbrel #53 Seydisfjordur
Backblip
Our first of four stops in Iceland. Predictably, we had chosen to go on a trip to a local Nature Reserve called Skalanes. It was blowing a gale, cold and there was light rain so we wondered if this had been a good choice or not. In the end, it turned out to be fine - the rain stopped and we were able to see whimbrels, Arctic terns, eiders, redshanks and of course lots of puffins, but I'll save them until a later blip.
My favourite bird after the puffin today was this Whimbrel. I'd not seen one yet in the UK this year so far, so it was lovely to see them so clearly here. I've put a couple of extras up of a redshank and the little blue church with the rainbow road.
