Raft Race
Thank you all for your kind comments yesterday on my 14 year blip stint. I meant what I said about this being an internet site where blippers from all walks of life and all persuasions are kind to one another in what they write.
Last night quite late after the Hamnavoe and other boats had cleared the entrance to the harbour there was a raft race in fancy dress from the slip where we Selkies swim into the harbour basin. I watched from my window as they passed me, paddling with anything to hand - it looked like spades and tin trays in crafts so full of people and so precarious looking that I fully expected some to capsize.
EllyJay who was at the start of the race said that some never even made it from the slip.
On their return most of them were towed back by launches otherwise it would have taken forever to get everyone safely in.
My blip shows two of the more robust floats which docked at a slip near me after the race.
Today felt cold in comparison to what it’s been like since I came. My phone said 12°, but on the other hand, I’d rather have that than 50°. The smirrs of rain passing through never amounted to much and I did manage to swim and walk.
