Arnica flowers

We’ve seen so many of these flowers at high altitude over the last two days. They give a lot of colour in what is often a stark landscape.

We had an early breakfast at the hut and enjoyed chatting with the other hikers/climbers at our table, hearing about their plans for the day. I was taking some photos of the hut after breakfast when suddenly a helicopter appeared above me, landed and five men jumped out and it left again. See extras. It was dropping off the men who are currently working in the hut extension. What a way to get to work!

The walk down to Lake Oschinsee, above Kandesteg, was steep but we soon made progress, stopping for coffee and to buy some cheese at a hut along the way. The cloud we’d seen below us at the hut disappeared very quickly. The first glimpse of the lake was breathtaking, however. it was quite busy so we took the cable car down to Kandesteg and started our train journey home.

Fabulous five days hiking with friends. I’ll sleep tonight!
