Hannah on the balcony

The Minx and I drove Abi and the miniMinx to the airport, early this morning: that week went quickly!

And we decided to come back along the coast, rather than taking the A8. It's far more scenic (and no tolls!), passing through some little villages with restaurants and shops crying out for investigation, as well as larger towns such as Menton, which, like Sanremo, seemed a little too touristy to be of interest.

We also passed above Monaco, which was a lot denser and claustrophobic looking than I imagined. It's really not somewhere I can ever see myself going.

Anyway, it's been nowhere near as hot here as has been reported in Southern Italy, Greece, and Spain; mostly high twenties and low thirties. But that still means it's better to stay indoors between, say, one and three.

So, later in the afternoon, the Minx and Hannah went down to sunbathe while I did my German homework, and then I joined them for a swim. The sea here is chill enough to be refreshing when you go in, but is quickly very comfortable.

And then we spent the evening in, the Minx making an awesome vegetarian tagliatelle dish, and we all sat out on the balcony, enjoying chilled wine, listening to music, and watching the traffic jam on the A8 in the distance as the sun went down.

PS This is the second photo I took of Hannah. Her eyes were closed in the first one, as happened here.
