OU
Had a nostalgic train journey down to Milton Keynes. Tried to get a photo of the lovely Howgills but the train window was just too filthy. I visited my favourite inscription on platform 5 at Crewe - I see it's had a fresh coat of paint, but the water container seems to have rusted away. I suppose if it's been there since 1863....
I had been braced for train delays/cancellations/replacement bus services, but arrived on time! Thence to the OU campus and the Berrill building, where I was attending a pal's inaugural lecture (never mind policemen, professors seem to be getting younger all the time). (Extra). It was an excellent lecture, and we met up with all sorts of old chums/retired colleagues afterwards, eventually repairing to a pub for something to eat and drink and then to a house they'd rented for the night. Gosh, I was tired - I'm out of practice at long distance train journeys.
