The Ocoee River
The put in place for whitewater rafting. The rubber rafts had six passengers and a guide for an adventure on this river. Where the water flows over a dam spillway.
Years ago when Brett was a teenager, maybe 13 or 14, he and I went rafting here on a half day trip. It was an experience we have never forgotten as this river has class 4 rapids as was the site of the Olympic kayaking when the Olympics were held in Atlanta. I spent time bailing water from the raft but also paddling as our guide instructed. The raft would sometimes be airborne as we went through a sluice of big water. There were big rocks everywhere. It was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. There were a couple of calm areas along the way to rest and go to the shore to turn the raft over to empty water…so we wouldn’t sink!
I looked at this today with my 70 year old eyes and said nope, not that brave anymore. But then again, it might be fun!
