Gjógv

The weather this morning was quite encouraging, so we decided to go to Gjógv, which is a small place at the end of the road on Esturoy.
It took two buses to get there and passed the start of the walk we did on Saturday.

Once there, the weather was quite changeable but we managed a walk up along the cliff edge to 160m, giving a great view of the village and its surroundings.

In Gjógv there is a narrow harbour, with a winch railway. The perfect place for me to go swimming in the North Atlantic. The open sea is too wild but the sheltered harbour was safe and I could get changed in the winch house. I wasn't stupid and didn't stay very long but it was lovely! A tiny chick, still fluffy came swimming so close to me that I could have touched it.

Afterwards we got some excellent lunch (after a wait) at the small hotel and it was time to take the bus back

In the evening we watched HB Tórshavn play Derry City at the national football stadium. It wasn't the most interesting game but we sat in the Derry City end, so, at least, the atmosphere was good.
