The Holme Valley
After MrM had finished his bakery deliveries this morning, I went with him to Walkden to visit Bill, a friend whom MrM has known for years. We stayed a little longer than intended, and by the time we left we were both hungry. In the end, in the absence of anywhere else, we resorted to eating at MacDonalds. Hmmm!
Next stop was West Houghton, to the premises (or so MrM thought) of a gold-plating firm, where he had arranged to have some mandolin tailpieces gold-plated. We got there, but the address looked to be a private house. MrM phoned the proprietor of the company to discover that he works from home. He couldn't answer the door though, as he was "about to get in the bath". You couldn't make it up! So MrM left the tailpieces in a hanging basket among the petunias!
The return journey by a more rural route was much more pleasant and in better weather than the trip there. We stopped for a while in the car park by Holme Moss transmitting station, from where there are fabulous views over the Holme Valley. In the far distance, towards the right of the blip, the two Emley Moor masts from yesterday's Blip are just visible
