Annual Visit

Somehow, every year, we have a visit - inside our house - from an Eastern hercules beetle. They are HUGE. And really quite wonderful. The photo was taken prior to my releasing it outdoors. This one is a female. She was about one and a half inches long.

Edit:  I should add - we have no idea how these big things get in our house. But without fail, every summer, we have at least one that appears - usually somewhere in the kitchen, but sometimes elsewhere. Puzzling.
