Salar de Uyuni
Our 3 day slat flats tour started on... the salt flats! We spent the day zooming around the huge flat whiteness that is the 2500 square km salt plane, which was great! There were endless mirages that made the other jeeps look like they were ice skating across! We stopped for hundreds of photos, all of us trying ( and a lot of the time failing) to get the hang of the famous forced perspective photos that all the tourists do here! There is an 'island' in the middle covered in cacti which made for a beautiful vantage point for the rest of the flats!
We ended the day watching sunset over the salt. We quickly froze and the pictures all look more like we are standing on snow or ice in all of our warmest clothes! When the driver noticed we had a flat tyre (great!) we had a very cold wait while he changed tires! We stayed in a hostal made of salt bricks for the night which was a very chilly but fun experience!
