A Small Adventure
All of these photos represent our actual day, taken with my little Sony, fiddled in camera.
Our plan was to eat at Sound Bites, a very good restaurant down Broadway Street from Helena's apartment. When we got there the line was huge and we were hungry. So we went to Kelly's Diner instead and Arvin and I could barely eat the shared pear French toast we had for breakfast. It was delicious. The photo of the young woman at the diner is the first stop on our tour.
Next plan was to catch the number 89 bus and head the other way on Broadway for a street fair. Let me tell you about the number 89 bus. It doesn't exist. Or at least every other bus doesn't exist. Since it travels once an hour on Sunday, that means a monster wait. We had the same problem yesterday, but with a much shorter wait.
While we waited we dropped into The Book Store to meet Maria's nephew who owns the shop. We chatted while waited for the bus which eventually did arrive and we headed up Broadway for our visit to the street fair.
Our plan was to hop off the bus as it turned right in front of where the street was closed for the fair, and walk around catching as much shade as possible since the weather man got it wrong. Expected high 85. Actual temperature 87 and going up. Hmmm. Anyhow the bus it turns out did not drive all the way to that street but dropped everybody off about half a mile away. We walked down a ways, passing people waiting at a bus stop that was now not used by either bus... oops! with no warning until I told them what was going on.
It quickly became obvious that the better action would be to give the fair a miss. The day was getting hotter and Arvin was not getting any younger. Nor was I when you think of it. So we meandered back up and over the hill on Broadway. The rest of the photos were taken along Broadway and side streets off of Broadway. It is quite a nice area really. Now we are home and soon will go to do the wash. Our second day with Helena in Boston.
