East Head
Finished work last night, had tea, and set off for Norfolk, getting there after midnight. I pulled up in a quiet spot and spent the rest of the night sleeping in the car. After some breakfast, a cuppa looking over Brancaster and watching a hare lope across the road, I headed to Overy and went on very early walk down to East Head and swam on the incoming tide. There was a Jaws moment (cue music) when I saw a large dark shadow in the water. Then a head popped up, and then another. A couple of seals checking me out! Terns were diving all around and a spoonbill did a flypast.
Walking back through the dune slacks there were lots of pyramidal orchids and Marsh Helleborine, common centaury and a Marsh Harrier in the distance stalked the marshes. Once back at Overy I saw T&H in front of the Boathouse and had a catch up before briefly popping into Wells and then heading to the campsite to put my tent up.
Once sorted I went over to Wymondham to my sister’s for supper and a then late return to the campsite, knackered!
