Sea holly
Today's the day ..................... to be a little blue
Good job I took this picture early on today, because you really wouldn't want to be outside now in the lashing rain.
And who could not be impressed by this extraordinary group of plants, commonly known as sea holly? This one is Eryngium 'Catherine Blair', named after the founder of 'The Rural', the Scottish Women's Rural Institute. It is a fairly new variety which became the SWI Centenary Plant in 2017. The silvery flowers become an intense metallic blue as they mature.
This one is already well on the way - but perhaps holding back a little until the weather improves .....................
