High Brown Fritillary
A better butterfly transect today! Almost unbelievably, a High Brown Fritillary. They were so scarce last year at Howe Ridding that I hardly dared to expect one this year. But there it was, and behaving very obligingly sitting for photos! You can just about make out the red marks on the underwing that confirm its identity.
Various other butterflies too made it a lovely walk.
When we arrived home there was a torrential thunderstorm so we got our timing just right!
