At the show

We drove to Gosforth to help #3 daughter in the allotment then drove to the People’s Theatre to see Ella and Nathaniel in their drama school summer show. We gave Natasha a lift - she is from Ukraine and stays with Luke’s sister. Her daughter Katya is pictured here with Ella and Nathaniel after the show. No photos were allowed during it. Katya and her mum are going back to Kiev at the end of term as the schools there are opening again, there’s electricity and they have bomb shelters. It’s so hard to image their life.

They did 2 performances of 2 hours and we saw the second which was excellent. The drama school has age ranges from full time young adult students down to 4 year olds. They are taught in age groups so Nathaniel was in J2 and Ella and Katya in J3. It was all singing and dancing and so well planned with each age group doing their own parts. The costumes were lovely. Nathaniel bounded in at the beginning in a pink sweatshirt and did a series of press ups before breaking into a dance routine when the others came in. In later scenes he wore a suit with his hair in a tidy pony tail. Ella wore a wonderfully sophisticated maroon and gold outfit for her first bit. Later she was in pretty pretty pink tulle which she loved. They sang and danced their ways through a lot of Wicked as well as some Abba, Meatloaf and others. They were as high as kites when we picked them up. We went to St Sushi and they each had a whole plate of seafood and seaweed. #3 daughter and I shared some starter dishes. It was tasty.

In case you are wondering, Mr C did not need the defibrillator when I imparted the cost of the Venice trip.
