Osterley Park

My reason for travelling out West was to meet up with my Dad’s cousin Vivien and her husband David. They have lived in Ealing all their married life, both having worked for the BBC. I hadn’t seen them for almost 20 years, but we had such a lovely day together.

We started out from my hotel at 9.30 and it was already hot outside, but nice and cool along by the Grand Union Canal on the way to Warren Farm Nature Reserve. Vivien and David are involved in the campaign to save this beautiful spot from development. It is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including small owls and skylarks. You can read more about it here : www.warrenfarmnaturereserve.co.uk

We continued walking , under the M4 and on to Osterley Park, which is in the care of the National Trust. The house was closed today, but we enjoyed the gardens and the shade of some very beautiful old trees in the heat of the day.

We parted company on the Tube, promising to meet again before too long, and I continued on to St Pancras and then Redhill to visit Sarah and Chris.

Extra are Vivien and David at Warren Farm, and the lovely meal cooked for us tonight by Chris :-)
