'The faded lavender is sweet'

Every summer I have a habit of picking a fresh bunch of lavender and popping it into this jug to air dry, replacing the previous year’s dried display, which I did today.

The jug sits in our cloakroom throughout the year and later on, in the depths of winter, when the garden is looking bare and lifeless, my dried lavender blooms are a daily reminder to me that the garden will, once again, perform the miracle of springing into life and producing glorious blooms when summer comes around.
