Marbled White And Thistle Tweakers

Lovely to see a marbled white butterfly flitting around our field this afternoon. They've only started visiting our property since 2019 and I don't often see them. The upper wings are quite striking black and white but I prefer the underwings with their beautiful patterns and eyespots.

I was thrilled to see goldfinches feeding on thistles in the large block of aluminium glasshouses this morning. The country name for them is thistle tweaker. I've added an image to extras of a parent feeding a fledgling. It shows the young bird's plumage nicely but I would have preferred the focus to have been on the adult.
