More Limestone
Mozzies made for a slightly disturbed night but our precautions kept it reasonable. We enjoyed breakfast with a view of the lake Leipikvatten and then off to the Coral Cave.
It’s an 8 km round trip and Jan decided to take it easy and amuse herself in the camper while I went for a look.
Similar to yesterday’s walk through natural forest but with more wide and open marshes. Walking on boards laid out to help the walkers, and to protect the ground. Again lots of flowers and plants in this soggy but verdant wilderness.
Suddenly I had arrived. A picnic table was the first sign, and the second was a stream running towards me, and disappearing! It was pouring into a large sinkhole, or swallet hole. Down inside the hole I could see two ways onward but I’d deliberately not brought a torch with me, to avoid temptation. This is the way into Korallgrottan, Sweden’s longest cave with just over 6 km passage. It’s gated with a large lock to protect the cave, so I’m doubtful I’ll get to see much of it. There are guided trips in but as an old caver I don’t think that’s for me! (For comparison the longest cave in the UK is 86km long).
Once back at the van we drove south, via a waterfall or two, until we found an open, breezy spot to stop for the night. But Jan has written about that, so I’ll stop here.
