Mercury

Sunday and another day of volunteer guiding at Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse.

The bronze head of Mercury sits on top of a marble column below the tapestry of King Darius and family being captured by Alexander the Great.

Perhaps Mercury delivered the news.

The number of visitors was high and steady throughout the day. Quite a number of interesting questions were asked and it is satisfying when I can give an accurate and full explanation.

The guides move from room to room every hour and of course, there is a different group of questions to be answered.

The guides have comprehensive knowledge of every space and house together with knowledge of the contents.

Luckily that knowledge is contained in a rather large reference binder which we all have copies of.
