Sports Day for Nathaniel
Nathaniel’s sports day was fun. He was paired with a much taller boy so the 3 legged race was hilarious. As was his efforts in the sack race, blipped. However he did well in the throwing, dribbling and got a silver medal for the 100 metres for the whole year. Not bad considering his short legs! His long-legged dad was third in the parents’ race.
I’m incensed by the information an article in the free news sent out by Northumberland county council. “The Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal is a £350 million investment from UK and Scottish Governments. The Borderlands P’ship is made up of Northumberland CC, Dumfries and Galloway council, Scottish Borders Council and Westmorland and Furness Council. It aims to provide an extensive programme of investment to deliver significant economic development for communities and businesses to these areas. The world’s largest children’s play park, Lilidorei at Alnwick Garden received £5.5 million ‘to bring the Duchess’s idea to life’.” Grrr. Who benefits in the area? Only the Duchess. It costs £15 per child and the same for an adult who must accompany the child, for 2 hours. I don’t know how many people it employs and what the wages are but I suspect not many.
Rant over. I can chuckle at the furore about the cricket - it wasn’t gentlemanly the English say. Have they forgotten the bodyline bowling.
We can enjoy the evening with Carol and Phil who are coming for dinner.
Roast pepper, avocado, sunblush tomatoes, mozzarella, basil in a balsamic, garlic and olive oil dressing and ciabatta
A harissa pasted roast aubergine slice thing in passata, with olives and orzo
New potato salad, radish ( both from Mr C’s garden) and red onion in a yogurt, lemon and tahini dressing
Green salad, also from Mr C.
Summer pudding slice (clearing the freezer of rasps, blackcurrants and redcurrants).
I’m making a cocktail of gin, elderflower cordial and limoncello (I need to finish the bottle of the latter as it’s been languishing in the fridge too long is my excuse).
