The Daisy Bank 'Veg Monster' winner
Today it was ‘Daisy Day, a ’Children’s Country Fair’, organised by the Friends of Daisy Bank, in the small park with the same name adjacent to both the cemetery and Horns Road. I was involved with setting up this community group when I was the town councillor for this ward in the parish. This was the first Daisy Day back in 2013.
Early in the afternoon Helena and I walked about seventy yards up to Daisy Bank on the footpath that runs down the hillside next to our house. As soon as we left the house we could hear the sound of children loudly playing and the activities were in full swing when we entered the park. Many children were revelling in being outside and playing together with their friends and families. Helena, who still loves to be drawn to children’s play activities, found the small tent where the winners of the ‘Veg Monster’ competition were on show. One of our near neighbour’s children won the first prize for the ‘Garden on a plate’ competition.
But I’ve chosen to blip the winning entry of the ‘Veg Monster’ competition which I loved. We are very lucky to have this small park so close to home, and next to our wonderful ‘local’, the Crown and Sceptre pub, which was serving drinks as always, although we refrained today. I blipped a scene from there a few of weeks ago.
