Down a garden path at Bread Street, Ruscombe
I drove to the west of Stroud high up onto the Cotswold escarpment near Randwick woods. Philip B. had invited me for coffee and our regular catch-up at his house on Bread Street, which has similar views to this picture.
This scene shows the view south of Selsley Common leading along the edge of the escarpment towards Dursley. For those with a geographical interest the steep slope in the far distances mark the ancient 'wave cut platforms' of former geological times which are only visible from certain angles. The lower platforms show sea levels of bygone times. With global warming maybe there will be new platforms evolving.
After leaving Philip who had work to do, I walked a few hundred yards along Bread Street and came to this old building, a former granary, converted into a small cottage. The sign on the gate says beware of the dog, but the cat sitting just behind it doesn't seem too afraid. It has great views to enjoy.
