Holidays!

It’s our annual ‘stay in a fabulous house for a week’ holiday and this year it’s the beautiful Clah Mhor in the countryside near Aviemore. It sits on the edge of a forest of Scots Pine and the River Spey is close by. It’s got four beautiful bedrooms and massive kitchen with a lovely sitting area. Two log burners and three sitting outside area one overlooking the garden where a multitude of garden birds arrive to the feeding station. It’s a must to feed them and bird food is supplied. Best of all, there are two visiting badgers at 10pm every night, and yes we saw them. What is it about wildlife that is so fascinating. I’ve only seen badgers before , usually when driving around dusk but dimly lit and scurrying away to hide. These two were snuffling around the bird feeder and we got a good look at them. The house is peaceful, not a sound of any traffic or noises apart from the birds. We have the bikes and the paddle boards and we are set. What we don’t have is Cameron and I’m sad about that. The dynamic has changed without him as he’s always been with us for summer week away. But his Dad booked a last minute holiday to Spain and I understand that (but I’m still sad).

First of all though, we were up sharpish and down to Tabou for breakfast. Bread shopping and walked over to mum. My brother was there and I got her lunch and tea sorted. She was her good natured, sparky self and is tired easy so she either goes for naps to bed or makes her electric chair into a lie down. Thank you kindly to those that gave nice words yesterday.

The journey to Feshiebridge was good apart from witnessing an accident at Birnham turnoff which seemed to have just happened southbound. There were three cars and the German car in front was pretty smashed up. The road was closed briefly after we passed it so we were lucky no hold ups.

Mince and tatties for tea followed by apple tart and custard then our wee walk from the house to the bend in the Spey. Stunning scenery all around.

Beds are huge and comfortable - we weren’t late in bed!
