Not A Spitting Image Of Its Parents

This fledgling robin was squeaking away in the large block of aluminium glasshouses this morning. A parent was stuffing it with juicy grubs. It won't develop a red breast until after its first moult. I've added a montage to extras where the young bird has just been fed and a strand of saliva joins it to its parent. As the parent turns away the spit can still be seen dangling from its beak.

PS I saw and photographed my first ringlet butterfly of 2023.
