4 long months!!!

On the day preceding the 2013 Super Bowl I set off to make my personal party fav - guacamole!! The avocados were quite ripe and almost fell from the seeds. I decided it was time to try the ol' make a plant from a giant seed trick I'd done 10 years previously. I could take pics for my Fall Botany course and get a plant out of it.

It just sat, and sat, and sat and did nothing. Even though I had followed all the on-line gurus of avocado tree making. In mid-April I transferred it to soil. A few weeks later I thought I'd throw it out as nothing was happening. When I wen to do so I found a 5 cm root protruding from the base - Woohoo!!! Within a week the root was through the bottom of the pot!!

When we returned from Mexico there was a 10 cm shoot protruding through the top!! This is now what I have. Fingers crossed it continues to produce leaves. I'm thinking home-grown-home-made guacamole for the 75th Super Bowl...
