Another Sunshiny Day

When the decision to be made today was either to sit in a bus for an hour to make  a return trip to Kirkwall or to double dook in an invitingly blue sea under a wall to wall blue sky, I had no trouble in opting to stay in Stromness and go swimming twice. After all this long  period of wonderful weather can’t last much longer.

In between dooks I had the inevitable coffee at Julia’s Shed and a gentle meander through the town peering up alleyways and smiling at passers-by-… bonhomie is my middle name when it’s warm and sunny.
I am constantly amazed at what can grow out of stone walls, hence my blip of this wee flower resplendent in the sunshine.

As I write this I am sitting in the garden wearing my sun hat and listening to the thrum of the Hamnavoe’s engines as it glides past on the other side of the sea to dock at the harbour. I will do a little bit of crochet and a little bit of reading before I go back inside. I might even snooze, who knows, I’m on my holidays.
