Ring Around the Tree

My little tree garden is doing really well this year.  When I was fixing up the house, the contractor wanted to cut it down but I said leave it, I'll drive around it.  It makes a nice focal point for the large parking area in front of the barn/garage.  We had our first severe thunderstorm last night which woke me at 2:30am.  A while later the flash and bang came at the same time and I knew it was very, very close.  I could smell the ozone created by the strike.  My house is grounded but I did get up to see if the potting shed might have been hit.  It was fine but the thunder rattled the window and sent Louisa May running under the bed!
