The day before the ‘main event’ is the Schools Day, a day where all three Services come together to showcase a range of military capability and equipment including STEM-specific activities and challenges. Schoolchildren from across the county will have had access to some of the latest technology and taken part in an inter-school robotics challenge.
For me it was a day of fielding last minute enquiries to which I really don’t have answers, questions that continued right up until late evening.
There was some respite when I set my mobile to ‘airplane’ mode whilst I spent a couple of hours at Falmouth Poly listening to Damien Lewis talk about his latest book.
Damien Lewis is a bestselling author whose books have been translated into over forty languages worldwide. For decades he worked as a war and conflict reporter for the world’s major broadcasters, reporting from across Africa, South America, the Middle and Far East, winning numerous awards.
Tonight he spoke about his latest book, SAS Great Escapes II, I had purchased both books 1 & 2 which he kindly signed and wrote in for Joshua.
Couple of beers afterwards with friend Paul before walking home with Sam.
